GLASFLAME

DESCRIPTION
GLASFLAME is a range of modified bitumen membranes with a reinforcement of rot-proof, dimensionally stable glasfiber mat. The inlay is positioned within a matrix of bitumen modified with a special blend of polypropylene thermoplastic polymers (APP).

USES
Generally recommended to be used as the first or base layer in multi-layer system below ground. Ideal in special applications such as wet-rooms where totally inert rot proof membrane is required.

OUTSTANDING FEATURES
· Dimensional stability.
· Inert base layer in a multi-layer specification.
                                         .

STANDARDS
GLASFLAME complies with the requirements and tolerance levels of :
1.UEAtc (European Union of Technical Agreement).
2.MOAT 27-1983 and MOAT 30-1984.
3.CGSB (Canadian General Standards Board) 37-GP56M-July 1980.

INSTALLATION TOOLS REQUIRED
Gas torch, Knife, Trowel, Measuring tape, Marking string, Gloves.

APPLICATION
GLASFLAME is installed by torch welding method, loose-laid or fully bonded to substrate. When loose-laid, only laps are bonded together. Peripheries and protrusions are sealed according to specifications.

COVERAGE RATE

For flat areas

                           1.13 M2/M2 per layer

For 30 cm. girth flashing

0.35 M2/Mt/ length

Average wastage

3 - 5%

TORCHING GUIDELINES
The underside of the membrane should be torched just enough to superficially melt the bitumen. Excessive heating may damage the reinforcement. Overlaps should be re-heated from the top and resealed with a trowel to ensure seam integrity.

For details of installation methods and flashing requirements, consult the relevant BITUMAT Design and Installation Manual.

FINISHES
GLASFLAME is available in two basic finishes:
- Black finish with polyethylene surfaces for covered applications.
- Granule surfacing for exposed applications.
- Aluminum faced finish (3 mm only)

QUALITY CONTROL
In addition to stringent regular tests by BITUMAT laboratory, our products are tested periodically by Bureau Veritas &  SOCOTEC, Paris, France.
